Growth explores how a business gets bigger and what that costs. Internal growth means expanding with your own resources, through new products, updated products, new markets, new branches or online selling. External growth means joining with another business through a merger, takeover or joint venture. The unit then looks at economies and diseconomies of scale, and the resource, cultural, legal and trade challenges a growing firm must handle. For the exam, be ready to recommend a growth method for a given firm and weigh the benefits against the risks, such as cash shortages or clashing staff cultures.
Each set covers one lesson of Unit 5: Growth in the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Business and Enterprise, with 20 multiple-choice questions on a timed countdown. Open a set to read its revision notes, host it straight away or save it to your library.
