Operations is about how a business actually makes its products and looks after its customers. The unit covers outsourcing work to other firms, lean production and its tools such as just-in-time and Kaizen, and the methods used to keep quality high, including quality control, quality assurance and TQM. You also compare job, batch, flow and cell production, and study customer service and how firms measure satisfaction. Exam questions usually give a short scenario, so practise explaining why one method suits a particular business better than another, using costs, quality and speed as your reasons.
Each set covers one lesson of Unit 4: Operations in the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Business and Enterprise, with 20 multiple-choice questions on a timed countdown. Open a set to read its revision notes, host it straight away or save it to your library.
